What measures have we taken to protect our staff?

Like many other companies, we want to ensure our people are as well protected from the virus as possible. One of the ways we are doing this is by facilitating working from home. Over half of our staff have been able to switch to working from home. This means there are significantly fewer people on our company premises, which reduces the chance of infections. When it comes to order picking, however, the physical presence of staff is unavoidable. We are adhering to the guidelines of the RIVM (Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment) and closely monitoring our employees for signs of illness. As a precaution, anyone with symptoms must stay at home and is only allowed to return when their GP has given the OK. Since we do not want to take any unnecessary risks, anyone with a cough, sore throat or runny nose is being sent home.  The daily task of picking and sending orders must therefore be carried out by a much smaller team. One of our most important service pillars is that we send our packages on the same day, if you order before 4pm. We are doing our best to continue to meet this promise, however, we hope that you will understand if the odd package does arrive a day later due to these unusual circumstances.

Suppliers and stock

We source our products from various suppliers around the world. We have suppliers in Europe, the United States, India, Korea and China, as well as other countries. Every country is dealing with the coronavirus to varying degrees, and measures are being taken around the globe to slow down the spread. This has had a knock-on effect on our suppliers and, therefore, us too. You are undoubtedly following the news and it will therefore come as no surprise to hear that factories in Greece, Spain and Italy have been closed on government orders. The same applies to Beadalon in Pennsylvania in the US, where the governor has imposed a lockdown. Some suppliers informed us a few days prior to their closure, which allowed us to order as many items as we could. However, other suppliers were caught off-guard, so there was no opportunity to place a final order. China is resuming everyday life following an intense lockdown period. The majority of our suppliers are returning to work and most factories are back to their usual level of production. The first deliveries are arriving and in the coming weeks we will receive many more deliveries of both new and restocked items.

Unfortunately, it is inevitable that some items will be sold out during this period. This is obviously very unfortunate, especially since no one knows how long this will last. Luckily, we have a wide range of items, and there are almost always alternatives in stock. For advice, you can always contact our customer service.

Delivery

We have two partners for the delivery of our packages, PostNL and UPS. Both companies are continuing to deliver packages to homes during the corona crisis. They are taking the necessary measures to ensure your safety and the safety of the courier.

PostNL is continuing to deliver in a responsible way. According to the RIVM, the risk of infection via post or packages is very slim, because the virus is unlikely to survive on absorbent materials, such as paper and cardboard. There is no evidence that people have been infected by post or packages. The most important guideline is to keep a sufficient distance and, of course, wash your hands after receiving a package. The couriers maintain a distance of 1.5m and avoid physical contact. In addition, PostNL says that they are preparing for various scenarios, so they can continue to provide their service. Ensuring the safety of all employees, customers and partners is given the utmost priority. When ordering, you have the option to pick up your package from a PostNL location. Please note that some PostNL locations may be closed due to the virus. PostNL has a detailed FAQ page for questions regarding deliveries and safety: https://www.postnl.nl/en/customer-service/coronavirus/frequently-asked-questions/

Package deliveries by UPS will continue, but with a few changes. The delivery option to pick up your package at a UPS Access Point has been suspended in a number of countries (including France, Italy, Belgium and Spain) because the access points (usually shops) are closed. In addition, there are certain postcodes in the previously listed countries where no deliveries are possible. New measures are being taken in rapid succession, so for up-to-date information, please consult the UPS website: www.ups.com

The current challenging circumstances may result in delays in the delivery process of your package, for example, due to border checks, flights that are cancelled or local protective measures. With your track&trace code, you can stay informed of the status of your delivery. If the track&trace status is ‘CS - Emergency’ or ‘DH - NO UPS CNTRL’, your package is sadly no longer able to be delivered and will be returned to us. If this happens, please contact our customer service.

To ensure your safety and that of the courier, you are no longer obliged to sign for packages when they are delivered. The most important rule is to keep your distance and wash your hands after receiving a package.

How can you help us?

To ensure that we can work as efficiently as possible, please avoid placing multiple smaller orders, and instead combine your orders into one. This means that we can send your order more quickly. If you would like to contact our customer service with questions about your order, general questions or a request for advice, we can be reached by phone, as usual. Since many of us are now working from home (possibly with children at home), sending an email is a good alternative.

How can we help you?

We obviously want to ensure that we get your items to you as quickly as possible. However, we also want to help you by providing discounts, extra DIY videos and inspirational photos. Since physical shops are closing, and those that are open have little foot traffic, it's important to pay extra attention to your online shop. If you don't have an online shop, it might be a good time to set one up. You can use our product photos and DIY videos to create your own online shop, or optimise the one you have. Do you have any good ideas that will allow us to better help you and our other customers? Please email our customer service. All input is welcome.

This is a difficult time for all of us, whether you have a large or small business. Many entrepreneurs are facing an uncertain future. We wish you all the wisdom and creativity you need for your business. It will take a while, but this will pass. As long as you keep moving forward, there will always be opportunities in the market.
